Second trimester screening triple screening test (estriol, B HCG and alpha fetoprotein ).
Quadruple test (estriol B HCG ,alpha fetal protein and inhibin)
These are blood tests which will measure the hormonal values in the mother and give a result which will tell whether the baby is at high risk of having Downs Syndrome is very low and no need for any further testing.
Screen Positive this means the risk of having baby with Downs Syndrome is high and we need to do confirmatory test, by invasive testing like chorion villus sampling or Amniocentesis to rule out chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus.
